The aim of the project is to encourage young people who have not been successful at school to improve their ability to communicate with other people and to develop their organisational skills. Participants are taught a range of skills for a variety of sports and are then expected to teach it other. From these activities, the young people learn self-discipline, cooperation and how to manage others on their team, even when they behave in a troublesome way. The participants enjoy teamwork, sharing cultures, learning new skills and discovering that they are not alone with their problems.

Article - Are mixed schools or separate schools better for teenagers?
Here are a couple of good responses from students:
Nowadays, many people think that boys and girls aged 14 to 18 should attend separate schools. In my opinion they should not attend separate schools.
There are many reasons for girls and boys to attend mixed schools. One reason is that it is important for both boys and girls to learn how to understand each other and help each other. Another reason is when both girls and boys are grown up they will have to find a life partner; if they don't understand each other, they will not be able to gave a good life and help each other in any situations or share any things together. The third reason is even though people think that girls and boys will concentrate better if they are separated, I think that school will be more fun if boys and girls are together.
In conclusion, I think that boys and girls should not be separated because it will be better for everyone. (Aasis, Year 10 ESL)
These days, some people think that students at aged between 14 and 18 should go to separated schools. However others think that they should go to mixed schools. In my opinion, there are advantages to both.
There are lots of advantages to mixed schools. One advantage is that they make boys and girls both work harder by creating competition between them. Another advantage is that boys and girls can learn to try to understand each other. This is an advantage because in the future it will make them know how to react to the other gender.
However, there are also lots of advantages to separate schools. One of them is that the students can concentrate more at school and on their work rather than on their relationships or friends. Furthermore, behaviour is better in separate schools.
In conclusion, I think that both mixed and separate schools both advantages and disadvantages. (PeiPei, Year 10 ESL)

Summary: Television - Advantages and disadvantages
Here's a model summary for the advantages and disadvantages of television article. Please note the use of linking/transition words. (Click here for original.)
The television keeps us informed of world affairs. In addition, early exposure to television programs helps develop children's language skills. They can also learn to pronounce words accurately because of the standardized pronunciation in the programs. Furthermore, in families where both parents are working, television provides them an opportunity to get together at leisure times. One disadvantage of watching television programs is that we do less reading and hence our writing skills are affected. Another is that younger children may learn to speak but not write from television programs. Moreover, television programs often spare viewers, especially younger ones, from pondering upon opinion as presented before them, which will in turn handicap their ability analyze facts.

Summary: Teenagers and Texting
Here's a summary for the "Teenagers and Texting" article (click here for original). Note the use of linking/transition words.
Texting is a simple, cheap way to stay in touch with classmates and friends. It is also less intimidating than talking. However, texting can result in many problems. For example, access to texts at night disrupts sleeping. In addition, constant texting can cause hand injuries, particularly to the thumbs. Furthermore, texting during class time causes students to lose concentration and stop listening to the teacher. Moreover, the ease of texting leads to students being unable to make their decisions, thereby making them less independent. Finally, as texting uses abbreviations, this can lead to poor development of spelling.

What makes you happy?
JiaJia's reply was fantastic. Here it is:
"I think having a job and a lot of money will make me happy because you can travel to other countries and buy as much stuff as you want. You can buy a ticket to the concert and meet your favourite artist without anyone saying that ‘you are wasting your money’.You can take care of your family because you can give them whatever they want.I heard a lot of people said that ‘money can’t buy your happiness’ but everything that makes me happy needs money to buy it.I think i’m not old enough to understand those words because i haven’t seen the world as much many adult.Maybe when I get older I will change my mind." (JiaJia, Year 10 ESL)
